Cookbooks: The Lodge Cast Iron Cookbook & The World In A Skillet
On first read, yeah, The Lodge Cast Iron Cookbook is just another promotional cookbook. This time, from a cast-iron skillet maker. And The World in a Skillet is a hybrid cookbook/anthology from an academic publisher (now *that* sounds interesting, though hopefully not overly dry).
Turns out they were both pretty great in that spicy cornbread sort of way. I’m actually wagering that by year’s end, I’ll have made more recipes from The Lodge Cast Iron Cookbook. But by then, I’ll also have read The World in a Skillet cover to cover, unlike so many books by academic publishers on my nightstand.
If all the Southern cornbread talk is still holding your attention, find out more in my book review over at LA Weekly. If not, well, there’s always that “hot and numbing rabbit” recipe to get you through until the end. And if anyone tries the rabbit, do let me know how it goes — I’m rather title intrigued by that one!
